Get to know us
The Critical Pacific Islands Studies Collective (CPISC) at UC Berkeley is a growing network of Pacific Islanders and allies committed to creating educational and professional development opportunities, accessible research materials, and scholarly work based on the critical and equitable study of the Pacific.
CPISC conducts interdisciplinary research that bridges spaces within and external to academia and seeks to understand relationships between territorial political status, militarization, environmental justice, Indigenous cultural preservation, colonialism, climate change, and further complex problems.
Our vision is to generate deeper, more holistic research conducted of, with, and for the people of the Pacific.
